Day 1: Welcome to the Land of the Midnight Sun!

Arrive at Longyear Airport in Svalbard followed by a private transfer to your accommodation for the night. After check-in, the rest of the day is free time to explore Longyearbyen as you wish, perhaps with a visit to the Svalbard Museum to learn more about Svalbard‘s history as a hunting and mining outpost. Spend the night in Longyearbyen.

Day 2: Nature at its best at Kapp Linné

Meet with your guide in the morning for a short briefing before we head to the harbour in Longyearbyen, where the Polarcirkel boat is waiting to take us to Isfjord Radio at Kapp Linné. On the way, enjoy the fantastic fjord scenery and wildlife sightings as we make a number of interesting stops. Upon arrival, we immediately start hiking along the coastline towards Linnédalen, where we have a fantastic view of Linnévannet and Isfjorden along with a nice expedition lunch and hot drinks. After a long day of trekking and sightseeing, it’s time to set up camp and enjoy dinner prepared by our guide before dozing off in our sleeping bags. Spend the night in an expedition tent.

Day 3: Hiking to Wonderful Isfjord Radio

After a solid breakfast, get ready for new day of adventures in the beautiful Svalbard wilderness! Today, the trail takes us to Grønfjorden and Festningen, where, among other things, we can find fossil prints of prehistoric lizards. An expedition lunch is served on our way back to Isfjord Radio, where a hot shower and sauna await you along with a delicious three-course dinner. Spend the night at the Isfjord Radio.

Day 4: Coastline Trek and Return to Longyearbyen

Today, you can choose to either relax and enjoy the morning at Isfjord Radio or join your guide for a hike along the beautiful coastline. During the leisurely coastline trek, your guide will entertain you with stories about the hard life of early settlers and tell you about the unique geology, flora, and wildlife in the area. Later, enjoy a warm lunch at Isfjord Radio before returning in the afternoon to Longyearbyen, where you will spend the night.

Day 5: So Long, Svalbard!

Before departing this amazing place, the early part of your day is free for a stroll around Longyearbyen, a visit to the Svalbard Gallery, or some last-minute souvenir shopping. Or, if you’ve ever wondered what sled dogs do in the summer, you can find out for yourself with an optional dog-sledding tour... on wheels! In the afternoon, take a taxi or the airport bus to Longyear Airport for your return flight to Oslo, from where you will continue onwards to your final destination.

An outstanding visit
I have just arrived back in Canada after an outstanding visit to Spitsbergen and Basecamp Isfjord Radio. Everything has gone very well with my trip including flight reservations, the Basecamp hotel, hotel Spitsbergen and of course the staff at Basecamp Isfjord Radio. It was a fantastic visit and I was very sorry to leave. Spitsbergen is a very beautiful place and I hope to return someday. • Due to flight times between Svalbard and Norway, travellers are urged to spend the night in either Oslo or Tromsø before and after the trip.
• The summer climate in Svalbard is generally mild with average temperatures of 5 to 9° Celsius. However, Arctic conditions can cause sudden weather changes so it is recommended to bring warm, weatherproof outerwear along with thermal layers and good walking boots. Sunglasses and sunscreen are also recommended due to the long daylight exposure from the midnight sun. A list of necessary personal equipment will be provided before arriving.

• This tour is not suitable for young children.
• Participants should be in good general health for this tour.
